Matrix center's clothing room grows to fill need

After walking away Tuesday morning with free clothes for her and her unborn child, Mayra Banales beamed with gratitude for the new space that houses the Matrix Pregnancy Resource Center's clothing room."I think it's pretty nice," said Banales, 20, of West Lafayette. "They have a lot of pretty stuff here. There are a lot of young single moms. They have little or no support at all, and sometimes you need to ask for help."At 3,000 square feet, the new clothing room is 7.5 times bigger than the 400-square-foot space that housed the charity at Oakland High School. The clothing room opened in its new space Monday. It's on 36th Street in Lafayette; visitors must make an appointment through Matrix.
