Look Sharp: H&M Launches Clothing Collection Initiative

The average American throws away an estimated 68 pounds of clothing every year, but 99 percent of that trash can be recycled.[1] According to the Council for Textile Recycling, an estimated 1.3 million tons of clothing textiles—fabrics like cotton, wool, leather, nylon, rayon and polyester—were recovered for recycling in 2009.[2] It may seem like a lot, but that's just a fraction of the more than 13 million tons of textile trash that was generated in 2010, representing about 5.3 percent of total municipal solid waste (MSW) generation. One Shoulder Women Cheap Black Fashion Panty Hose can really show your infinite charm and personality well. Robert Pattinson Wears Women's Clothing, Possibly

Bad news: that beautiful, wonderful, largely internet-free time of the holiday break is over and we've been shaken from our red wine and champagne haze, returned to work, and returned to giving some kind of regrettable shit about people like Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Everyone involved would rather it not be the case, but this is the way the world is.The latest development in the cynically orchestrated behind-the-scenes Twilight saga has Robert Pattinson spotted out wearing girlfriend (?) Kristen Stewart's jacket. The Daily Mail knows the jacket belongs to Stewart because it's "rather feminine" (oh, D Mail). That's not it up there, but the overall appearance is pretty close.Anyway, apparently a satiny finish and a floral lining means Pattinson is wearing his girlfriend's clothes–he's already been completely emmasculated by her public cheating and now this!–and this whole thing will probably turn him gay (or, at least, these are the Daily Mail posts we anticipate).
Strengthening their case,Cheap Hot Red Sheer Nylon Stretch Thigh High come in different styles and cuts, designs and colors. By choosing a ball gown wedding dress, you can be able to make a fashion statement for your wedding. however, is the fact that Stewart frequently ventures out wearing Pattinson's clothes. Which, in the event they are a couple, makes them that couple. Everyone knows that couple, right? They disappear for days on end, only to emerge from their apartments or dorm rooms looking bedraggled, wearing the other's sweaters? In our experience, people tend to fall on one of two sides when it comes to this behavior: vague disgust with peoples' gradual descent into each other, or self-righteous anger because they're wearing the other's sweater currently. One Shoulder mini dress knee length can also be one of the best choice for gifting someone. Bodyguardz iPhone 5 Pure Premium Glass Screen Protector Review

The folks at Bodyguardz have created an all-glass screen protector for the iPhone 5 that's only the second such solution on the market we've seen after the Spigen SGP GLAS.t and tR – blink and you might mistake one for the other. This is essentially a whole extra pane of glass that you place on top of your standard iPhone screen with slightly rounded corners and cut-out holes for your home button and earpiece. This version of the glass screen protector comes in at .4mm thick and boasts at 8H+ surface hardness, too. What's the difference, then, between this solution and the solution they've got over at Spigen SGP? Not one whole heck of a lot, that's for sure. In fact, if you look at the specifications of the Spigen SGP GLAS.tR, they're nearly identical. Both glass panes work with a completely transparent body, both have the holes cut out in the same places, and they really, truly feel like they were designed by the same group. That's either really good taste on the parts of both companies, or they've got the same single license owner for the original technology – the makeup of the glass and the design.
While we investigate further, know this: this glass screen protector works fabulously. It's extremely strong, thing enough that it's not in as much danger of cracking as the thicker solutions, and it feels really good to use. On that note though, you should know that the edges MIGHT chip if you bang the glass around enough. It's said to be hard as steel, but chips can happen to anyone.Note: If you have a toddler at home who uses your iPhone often, this is not the screen protector to get – the same goes for all glass-based screen protectors. We've seen glass screen protectors break in the past, and we're not convinced beyond the safety of our kids' fingers that it wont happen again, no matter the manufacturer.
That said, it does indeed protect your iPhone's display just about as well as you could possibly hope for. This protector applies in a single push, results in no bubbles (unless you're really, really unlucky), and is entirely transparent. This solution is available for sale from Bodyguardz online right this minute for $39.95 USD and the box contains installation instructions, an alcohol wipe / cleaner, micro fiber cleaning cloth, and the glass screen protector itself. You also get a couple of bubble home button stickers since putting this protector on your iPhone results in a home button that's a bit deeper than you're used to – I personally like to stay away from the sticker because this way I'm not having any accidental chats with Siri, but to each their own! Have fun with it!

Features Found While Laptop Computers Shopping

Some of the features found while laptop computer shopping focus on size and portability. Other features that people consider beneficial is whether the laptop computer is thin enough to carry with them when they are traveling through airports. The lightweight features found in laptop computers are what made laptop computers popular to begin with, and business travelers really need this feature when they work away from the office.Other features found while laptop computer shopping are pretty basic and to be expected, but people consider them anyway when buying a laptop computer. The number of cells in a battery will determine how long it will provide power to their laptop computer system, and they want the longest time they can get.
The most beneficial features found while laptop computer shopping are the extended warranties that are offered on laptop computers. These are insurances that will protect their investment, and people prefer this warranty feature to have a few years offered in the deal. Most laptop computers start out with a 90 day warranty but some feature offers of as much as 3 years. Some of the fun features found while laptop computers shopping are high-end graphics and touch screens. These are luxurious features that many people feel are not necessary, but high-tech computer users love them. For a person that does video editing for a living, they pay particular attention to the video editing features that are built-in to some computer systems.
There are people that look at features found while laptop computer shopping, and think about all of the musical CDs they can copy, and how they can download music from the Internet, and transfer it to their cell phone. They look at the built-in compact disk burners and think of all the money they will save when they make copies of their own style of music that they can play in their car.One of the most important features found while laptop computers shopping is the speed of the computer processing unit. Since this is the one piece of equipment that is not upgradeable on a laptop computer, the one that is purchased with the laptop computer model will have to suffice for the life of the product. This feature will also reduce the wear and tear on the core of the system and may extend the life cycle of the laptop computer, and affect the speed in which images appear on your laptop computer screen. One of the features found while laptop computer shopping will determine how much memory you can upgrade some time down the road. People routinely ask what the upgrade capabilities are on a laptop computer before they ask what the operation system is that is installed on the computer system. When they ask about upgrade capabilities they are actually asking about a feature called the memory slots.

Hot accessories for smartphones, tablets

Consider picking up an accessory that can extend the functionality, longevity or personality of the digital device. To help narrow your choices, the following are some of the year's best, divided into various categories. It's a good idea to protect your investment by picking up a fitted case — and there's no shortage of options available. If it's rugged protection you want, the OtterBox Defender Series cases ($49.95) — supporting all major makes and models — snugly wrap around a smartphone or tablet, which helps it withstand the bumps and drops of everyday life. A thin and transparent film also protects the screen.
Similarly, Hard Candy's ShockDrop cases (from $39.95) also add protection — for iPhone and iPad only — via a no-slip, rugged silicon shell designed to absorb shocks.website's smartphone cases (from $89.99), on the other hand, are premium leather covers that you can order as is — with multiple styles, colors and designs to choose from — or you can customize a case on the company's website. If you'd like to carry your tablet in style, STM Bags' Scout 2 shoulder bag ($55) perfectly fits Apple's iPad or any other 10-inch tablet. Padding and a soft felt lining surround your gear, while Velcro and buckles keep it secure. There are also a couple of pockets for documents, keys, a smartphone and more.If you prefer a bag that can also power up your tech, the Powerbag Sling by Fūl ($139.99) is a small backpack that houses a battery system inside, allowing you to connect and charge a smartphone's battery twice. Available in multiple colors, the Sling also has numerous sections and pockets for laptops and other gear.
You don't have to break the bank to give the gift of wireless music. HMDX's Jam Wireless Portable Speaker ($49.99) is a Bluetooth speaker that pairs with a nearby smartphone or tablet and can play music from the device for more than four hours through its built-in rechargeable battery. The tiny but loud Jam speaker is available in the following "flavors" (colors): Apple, Apricot, Blackberry, Blueberry, Grape and Strawberry. While pricier, the Jambox ($199.99) and Big Jambox ($299.99) from Jawbone are also recommended wireless speakers. The funky-looking rectangular products are louder and clearer than the HMDX solution. And if a call comes in you can use the Jambox as a speakerphone. If you prefer private listening, these great-sounding headphones may be music to your ears: Bowers & Wilkins' P3 headphones ($199.99) not only deliver clear, well-balanced and powerful audio, but the cushioned ear cups are soft and comfortable. Sold in black or white, and with smartphone controls on the cord, these headphones fold and can be stored in the bundled hard-shell case.

Mini Review: LifeProof-ing Your New Slate

If you do decide to pick up a pricey $600+ LTE-capable iPad, you might be looking for all the protection you can get for your new gadget. In that case (pun intended), LifeProof has you covered.LifeProof is pitching some heavy duty protection from the elements with its line of iPhone and iPad cases. LifeProof's iPad cases are submersible up to 6 feet, designed to withstand drops from 4 feet and totally sealed from dirt and dust particles to the IP-68 rating. They're also enclosed to keep out all melting snow and ice to the IP-68 rating.I have to admit I was hesitant to submerge my iPad after installing the review case, which was provided courtesy of LifeProof. Amazingly, my worry was for nothing. My iPad emerged unharmed from its first dip in the pool.
I liked the fact that the LifeProof cases leave the iPad's screen bare. LifeProof has called this "nuud" technology. I've tried heavy duty cases in the past that include a transparent screen protector. Those cases can increase glare and just don't do the iPad's screen sensitivity justice. The LifeProof cases create an air tight seal around the entire bezel, leaving the screen exposed, or bare. The other thing that's worth mentioning about this case is that it allows access to nearly all the ports and buttons on the iPad. Some cases can be limiting, covering up ports so that you can't plug in headphones or even charge the device. With these cases, LifeProof allows you access to all that and goes to the trouble of enhancing the sound of the tablet through a special grate around the iPad's speaker that provides acoustic amplification.
For $99, you'll really want to be sure that you have a need for this much protection, but given that other cases on the market for $80 to $100 don't offer protection from water, it might not be such a bad idea. And let's be honest, if you're spending over $600 on a device and you have kids, you're going to want armor against liquids and drops, whether it be apple juice, soda, or a 2-year old who thinks she's just discovered the world's most expensive Frisbee. The Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 performs well, with no noticeable lag or delays, but that doesn't mean that it's lightning fast. While some improvements have been made, it's still based on a heavily customized version of Android and there are a few things that just aren't as easy as they should be. Having said that, the shopping experience is great -- Amazon makes it very easy to purchase new context for your Kindle or even shop for physical products right from your tablet.

How A Blackberry Screen Protector Saves You Money?

To save your pocket from the pricey cost of repairing Blackberry touch phones, you might want to use a blackberry screen protector on your unit. The latest phone units and models are undoubtedly more functional and practical than the ones before. But, these developments are not for free. That is why current mobile phone units and brands are more expensive.Nowadays, there is what we call smart phones. Almost all phone manufacturers offer these kinds of phones including Blackberry, one of the leaders in the smart phone industry.
Blackberry phones are beyond doubt one of the best smart phones on the market. They can be proud of their units for having styles, functions and looks. But, like others, these units are sensitive and costly.Anyone who owns this brand's unit will surely be proud of it. Not just because of the looks but more because of the functions it has. Some features of Blackberry units are high memory, internet connectivity for sending mails and browsing the net, document reader, and camera and music player.
These innovations in the mobile phone niche present several backlashes. Aside from being more expensive, they too are more sensitive and fragile. Moreover, because of your phone's features and looks, you could easily end up buying costly accessories. Some of accessories also offer protection for your phone. In fact, they are also a practical way to keep your phone from being brought to repair shops and your pocket from paying service fees. They are also suggested by phone users and manufacturers. If you have a Storm unit, you would definitely want to protect its screen from scratches and other damages. Having scratches on your phone especially if it is a touch screen could affect its sensitivity and looks. That is why Blackberry screen protectors are offered to users.Although not all of these brand's models are touch screen, they all possess fragile LCDs. If you do not protect them, your phone might end up not functioning well. Now, that is where Blackberry screen protector enters. So what could it do?
The function of protective screen depends on your mobile unit. A screen protector film, although most of the time, considered to be good at keeping your phone from getting scratches serves more than that. Here are some of the available screen protectors in the market.Blackberry Curve screen protector protects your phone unit from scratches. With a scratch free screen, the sensitivity of your unit will be maintained. Additionally, if you go for anti-glare screen protector, you can expect that your Curve will still be as clear as if nothing's on its LCD.For a storm unit, you can use Blackberry Storm screen protector. Some of the films offered in the market are reusable and do not leave any mark on the edge of the unit. Moreover, they also keep your phone from acquiring dusts and dirt.

Protect your laptop and make it more fashionable

Laptops have revolutionized the way people work, write, or perhaps live. So many times you come across people who seem to be glued to their laptops forever! As the number of laptop users is on the rise the marketers are coming up with a wide variety of laptop accessories to lure these laptops users. The range of laptop accessories available today is quite extensive - be it the flash drives, USB beverage warmers, web-cameras or the quintessential laptop case.Protect your laptop and make it more fashionable at the same time through stylish laptop skins which can be wrapped around the laptop to provide security for the external surface of the laptop. A laptop skin is usually made of highly durable plastic that is also elastic to wrap firmly around the laptop.
There are mainly two kinds of laptop skin available - the plain and decorated laptop skin.A plain one is more for practical and protective purposes. It is often transparent and is embossed with the logo of the manufacturer or dealer. Meanwhile, a decorated laptop skin - usually sticker-type - has stylish patterns and designs. You can also customize this decorated laptop skin with your photos and your very own drawings. For personal use, why not use a memorable photo or a photo of your favorite band or artist as a laptop skin? Make your laptop stand out from the other laptops out there. For business use, you can put in a logo of your company and emboss them in a laptop skin. For produce launches and other corporate events, you can have custom-made laptop skins for presentation purposes.
The days of the dull gray or black laptops are numbered, now we are able to match our laptop to our outfits or choose our favourite colors with the addition of colorful laptops from many of the large computer companies. Pink laptops in particular are gaining popularity among women (and even a few men). It's no surprise with the invent of those funky apple ipods and even more recently the release of their new color range, who wouldn't want a laptop to match their ipod or even to show off your favourite color at your local cafe rather than the run-of-the-mill black or gray one, a shiny new pink laptop is the way to go. Many of the large computer companies - Dell, Samsung, Asus, Sony to name a few - now offer laptops in various shades of pink. Dell has also added several color options (pink being one of them) to their sleek, high-performance laptops. The addition of color was a good idea; they have proven incredibly popular and everyone from customers to reviewers raves about them.

Life-Saving Hypersonic's Car Accessories for the 2012 Holiday Season

With 91% of travel over the winter holidays being done by car, it's no surprise that Christmas and New Year's top the list of deadliest holidays. It's hard to avoid snow, sleet, rain and high winds during the winter months, and these factors reduce visibility and create slick roads -- a disaster in the making. But, with a little preparedness drivers can keep passengers safe no matter the road conditions. Here are five must-have car accessories for this holiday season.
When it's dark and the driver is lost in an unfamiliar area, how should he go about checking the map? Turning on the car's interior lights means street signs are difficult to read, and the light from a cell phone isn't enough to illuminate. With a dashboard LED lamp, such as the one manufactured by Hypersonic, the problem is solved. These lamps are usually thin and have a flexible neck, but there are other styles to choose from, too, such as lamps that can be installed into side compartments, roofs, and rear windows. Some can be popped into into a car's cigarette lighter, and more advanced styles can be wired to the car's electrical system to be turned and off with a switch or to operate similar to a car's break lights.Going "north on I-27" won't be a gamble in a car equipped with a reliable compass. The Hypersonic Deluxe Compass with Non-Slip Mat sits on any flat surface, such as a dashboard. The compass sits atop an oversized textured surface that securely grips items like cell phones, sunglasses, keys, wallets, and important slips of paper. A slip-proof mat keeps everything handy and accessible, and nothing will move an inch, even if the driver swerves or slams on the breaks.
It's raining, it's pouring, and the driver can't see a darn thing out the side view mirrors. That's because he's not using Hypersonic's nifty rain block visors. These visors lock into most car side view mirrors and stay put due to the 3M super-adhesive double-sided tape on the visors. The bond is heat-resistant, waterproof, and strong. Drivers will be able to, with only a quick glance, see those things that are closer than they appear in the mirror.Oops, the smartphone is low on power (it's been used as a GPS for the past few hours!) and there wasn't enough time last night to charge the laptop. With Hypersonic's USB chargers and power inverter, there's never a worry about mobile devices or laptops losing power. The USB Charger Kit comes with 10 common plugs for mobile devices, and the charger has the ability to power two devices at once using only one cigarette lighter socket. Charging the laptop is a breeze with Hypersonic's power inverter. This powerful box converts electricity from the car into the right amount of voltage to keep a laptop running. The inverter is safe, being able to defend against abnormal temperatures, electrical shortages, and power overloads.

iPad Keyboard Case Offers Backlit Keys, Solid Protection

As much as I hate typing on the touch screen of my iPad, I've resisted buying an external keyboard for my tablet as I didn't want to add to the bulk of my svelte Apple gadget. But when I was given the opportunity to test out the ZAGG ProFolio+ keyboard case, I was intrigued – since it's not only compact, but it offers full wrap-around protection for my iPad.To help put it to the test, I'm writing this entire review using the ProFolio+ keyboard and my iPad. At its core, the QWERTY keyboard solves the very problem it sets out to. I went from a paltry 34 WPM typing with the on-screen keyboard, to a solid 68 WPM on the ProFolio+ – on the first try – literally doubling my typing productivity. Yes, the keys are little smaller and more crowded than the ones on my desktop computer, but they're still quite functional, and add a good tactile feel, similar to that found on a MacBook. And I've got pretty big fingers, so if I can type on this, anyone can.
Another cool feature of the ProFolio+ keyboard is its backlighting. The keyboard has bright LED backlights which can be set to one of seven colors (my personal fave is the purple – it's bright and looks cool) and three brightness levels. Simply press the lightbulb key to turn them on, and hold it down with the right or left arrow keys to change colors. Brightness is adjusted by tapping the lightbulb key multiple times. The backlighting is quite effective – in fact I'm writing this entire paragraph in complete darkness with no trouble reading the keys at all. And while the iPad screen itself provides some illumination for keys anyhow, the supplemental backlighting makes them much easier to see – and it just plain looks cool.Across the top of the keyboard, you'll also find dedicated function keys for the home screen, search, photo slideshow, cut, paste, copy, media playback and volume, as well as to lock the iPad. Unfortunately, the lock key is a little close to the smaller-than-normal delete key, so I did find myself accidentally pressing it once or twice, but quickly figured out how to avoid it once I realized it was there.
In terms of the case itself, it's fairly non-descript on the outside, adding a layer of durable black plastic that  snaps onto the back of the iPad. When closed, the keyboard section acts as the front cover, and even has the proper magnets in it to put the iPad to sleep when closed and wake it when opened. When in keyboard mode, the iPad itself sits into a slot (in landscape mode only) providing a good angle for viewing the screen while typing. And this is where one of my only complaints about the ProFolio+ crops up – it only provides a single viewing angle. I personally found the angle to be a little too vertical for my liking  - but not to the point where it was uncomfortable. It's just ideal for when you're typing at eye level. If you try and use the iPad on your lap, the angle isn't ideal.

Maingear Introduces Nomad 15 Gaming Notebook Starting at $1,579

Maingear, a boutique system builder based out of New Jersey, has taken aim at gaming on the go with its new Nomad 15 gaming laptop. Available in a variety of color options, the customizable Nomad 15 is, as its name implies, a 15-inch notebook equipped that features 3rd Generation Intel Core i7 processor options (Ivy Bridge), discrete graphics (GeForce GTX 670MX and up), and up to 32GB of system memory."Hot new colors, sleek design, top of the line mobile parts — the Nomad 15 is one of the best 15-inch mobile gaming units we have launched to date," said Wallace Santos, CEO and founder of Maingear. "Those points along with a great entry level price will make this gaming system a no brainer choice for anyone looking to hop from console gaming to PC gaming.
A baseline configuration starts at $1,579 and includes an Intel Core i7 3740QM processor, GeForce GTX 670MX graphics, 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 RAM, 750GB hard drive (7200 RPM), built-in memory card reader, 8X DVD burner, 802.11n Wi-Fi + Bluetooth adapter, 2.0MP webcam, three USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and DVI-I output, FireWire, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and a 9-cell battery. There are several upgrade options available. You can bump the GPU up to a GeForce GTX 680M and/or swap the default storage for a solid state drive, to name just two.
This is an attractive ultrabook with a respectable mix of components for its price, a responsive touch-screen and a backlit keyboard. It isn't very configurable, so you can't make it too much more powerful than it already is. It's on the heavy side for an "ultrabook" (if you consider 4.5 pounds heavy). Its touch-pad is jumpy at default settings. The HP Envy TouchSmart Ultrabook 4 is a good gateway to the Windows 8 experience with a responsive touch-screen in a traditional laptop body.It looks as good as any 13-inch ultrabook, with the added attraction of a 360-degree screen and a laptop body that can fold into a tent, stand or slate.Tablet mode leaves the keyboard exposed, and it costs more than standard ultrabooks with similar components.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 is a convertible touch-screen laptop/tablet that most importantly doesn't compromise the traditional laptop experience. The interface is innovative, elegant, powerful and versatile. The tablet feels strong and well built, includes Office 2013, and offers rich video and music services. Its keyboard cover accessories are the best ways to type on a tablet, period. The tablet has sluggish performance, its Windows Store is a ghost town, Metro requires some practice to get the hang of, and the desktop interface feels clunky and useless. If you're an early adopter willing to forget everything you know about navigating a computer, the Surface tablet could replace your laptop. Everyone else: Wait for more apps.

A Laptop Tote that Combines Capacity and Organization

Here to challenge that notion that tech protection is frumpy is Greene + Gray, a brand that launched last week with two collections of women's accessories to protect laptops, tablets and smartphones. The Stripe collection is named for the navy, red and gray horizontal pattern while Tribal is marked by its two-toned motif and shapes. Both lines include iPhone cases, MacBook sleeves (including a wristlet for MacBook Airs) and laptop tote bags.Given how women are prone to lugging around oversized bags to carry just about everything, the Stripe canvas tote is a great pick for its capacity, organization and style. When it comes to something as basic as a tote, it's the small touches — leather pulls, plush padding, etc. — that make this stand out.
This giant bag is designed to carry a 13-inch MacBook Pro and iPad. Beyond the beachy exterior is plush internal padding to protect your electronic devices. Unlike Incase's Terra Tote, the Stripe tote's laptop compartment extends along the height of the bag, providing full protection for your computer. The main compartment features a zipper with a leather pull — a very simple touch but something Incase's version also lacks. Yet that's not to say that the Stripe tote trumps all. It lacks the versatility of the Terra Tote, which includes a strap to convert itself into a messenger bag.
A big draw of Greene + Gray's tote is its organization. In addition to separate compartments for a laptop and tablet, the divider for the latter includes small pockets for office supplies, such as pens, business cards and memo pads. My favorite feature is likely the smallest: a tiny external pocket that's perfectly sized for a smartphone. Taking advantage of the exterior, this pocket provides quick access for something you reach for constantly.Overall, a lot of utility is packed into this canvas bag. Its ability to organize and protect your belongings makes this a great option for women looking to upgrade their frumpy oversized bags.
At a product showcase just after the CEA talks, new PCs, tablets, smartphones and TVs were hard to find. Previews of new apps and accessories were everywhere, however.New PC accessories on display ran the gamut from Harman/Kardon's AirPlay -- a DLNA-enabled BDS 577 Blu-ray Player designed to resemble a slick piece of furniture -- to Mad Catz's powerful-looking new S.T.R.I.K.E 7 gaming keyboard.Kurio did show a kids-oriented tablet. XPAL Power Inc. gave journalists a gander at an upcoming disposable mobile phone called the SpareOne, which runs on two AA batteries and is meant for distribution to victims of hurricanes, floods and other disasters.

Touch Cover Issues Surface With Microsoft Surface RT

The Verge has a report that the signature accessory of the Microsoft Surface RT and the future Surface Pro units (due in January), the Touch Keyboard is showing some issues related to wear and tear. Specifically, users are reporting that the cover of the Touch Keyboard is fraying and exposing wiring. There's also reports of audio issues, but that's not the point here.I can report that in the two weeks of usage with the Touch Keyboard, that while I haven't seen any fraying, I can certainly see the potential of it occurring. Last night in rehearsal I used the Surface RT in portrait mode to follow along with my script for the show I'm staging. I kept noticing that while I was in this orientation with the device, with the Touch keyboard attached and folded over towards the back, that during normal usage I kept catching the two top edges of the keyboard with the cuff of my sweater. This became distracting after awhile and I couldn't help thinking that this would lead to some fraying if I used the device in this manner much longer. These upper edges are relatively flimsy by design, given the thin nature of the keyboard.
I've also noticed randomly, that the Touch Keyboard and the Tablet will drop whatever electronic connection makes them work in tandem. I'll open up the device and the keyboard will not register a key press. I'll have to disconnect the keyboard and reconnect it in order to reestablish communication. There have been at least three instances where I have had to reboot the device in order to get things working properly.Note that in The Verge article that the quote a Microsoft rep as saying they are having "a lot" of Touch Cover returns. Here's a picture that shows the edge of the keyboard I was referring to.CNET's Don Reisinger reported, "Microsoft appears to be willing to address the problem. People in the Surface forums have said that they have contacted Microsoft about the issue and are being given a replacement cover. Whether those new covers will suffer the same fate, however, remains to be seen."
Jamie Condliffe from Gizmodo commented, "Given where the fault occurs—on the side of the keyboard which attaches to the tablet—it seems likely that the problem could be a result of mechanical stress. If that's the case, the cover isn't doing too good a job of being a cover."The Verge's Tom Warren observed that the cover issue isn't the only problem with the tablet: "We noted in our original Surface review that performance was a little hit or miss, but there now appear to be widespread reports related to audio problems. Several threads on Microsoft's support forums detail issues relating to random muting and audio stuttering while the Surface is in use or on standby."

"To be honest with you, we've had many customers look at [the iPad], but they're not necessarily looking for that whiz-bang experience," Thornton said then. "Let me tell you, for a lot of customers, the Windows 7-based [Slate] performance is more than enough for what they're looking for… Now, the CEO might get the iPad, but for the 500 or 2,000 [employee] deployment? They're not going to get iPads. They're going to get something like this [Slate 2]."In other words, the CEO gets the good device, while the employees get the cheap device. Look how much has changed: "I agree with you: Windows 7 was not the answer," Hockey told me over the summer. "I'm not going to argue with you. I'd be the first to tell you that Windows 7 on a tablet was not a very strong product. But we think that with this new generation of Windows 8, touch-enabled devices, there's an opportunity now."All told, the ElitePad 900 is a pretty sleek device on its own. At 9.2mm and 1.5 pounds, the ElitePad is actually more appealing than many of HP's consumer offerings.

Linus Torvalds Wants All Laptops to Have 2560×1600 Displays

Most of the buzz surrounding Google's upcoming Nexus 10 tablet is on account of its WQXGA (2560×1600) display, the highest-resolution screen of any tablet out there. This isn't the first time this year that a tablet has managed to grab headlines due to its display's pixel count, though, with the now discontinued 3rd generation iPad also hogging a plenty of limelight for its 2048×1152 screen earlier this year. But even as manufacturers continue to up the display resolution ante in the highly competitive media tablet market, laptop vendors still seem content with 1366×768 displays for the most part. A certain Linus Torvalds has a major problem with that.
Known for speaking his mind, Linux creator Linus Torvalds recently took to Google Plus to do just that on the topic of laptop display resolutions: "So with even a $399 tablet [Nexus 10] doing 2560×1600 pixel displays, can we please just make that the new standard laptop resolution? Even at 11″? Please. Stop with the 'retina' crap, just call it 'reasonable resolution'. The fact that laptops stagnated ten years ago (and even regressed, in many cases) at around half that in both directions is just sad.""I still don't want big luggable laptops, but that 1366×768 is so last century. Christ, soon even the cellphones will start laughing at the ridiculously bad laptop displays."But he didn't stop at criticizing WXGA-doting laptop makers, proceeding instead to blast tech journos: "And the next technology journalist that asks you whether you want fonts that small, I'll just hunt down and give an atomic wedgie. I want pixels for high-quality fonts, and yes, I want my fonts small, but 'high resolution' really doesn't equate 'small fonts' like some less-than-gifted tech pundits seem to constantly think."

Targus buys premium accessory maker Sena Cases

Prolific accessory maker Targus is no slouch when it comes to making attractive products, but when it came to upping its game in the realm of high-end iPhone and iPad cases it opted to acquire an established brand rather than start from scratch. That name is Sena Cases, a California firm known for its exquisitely crafted leather accessories.Founded in 1999 by brothers Ramsey and Fevzi Oten, Sena Cases specializes in high-end phone and tablet cases, some of which carry the imprint of designers such as Michael Kors and Dylan George. The company will continue to operate as a separate entity under the ownership of Targus with the Otens remaining at its helm. According to a spokesperson, Sena Cases will also remain responsible for its own product designs, so you shouldn't expect to see either brand influencing the other in the forseeable future.Think Tank has expanded the Retrospective line of bags and announced the new Glass Limo backpack, all of which are designed for carrying large pieces of gear.
The Glass Limo backpack is a bag designed specifically for carrying oversized lenses, like a 600mm f/4, or a 500mm f/4 attached to a pro body. Set to debut in November with a $195.75 sticker price, the Glass Limo meets airline size restrictions so you can keep your super expensive glass on hand while traveling. While specifically designed for long glass, you can reconfigure the internal structures to handle a standard shooting kit, and use modular accessories to beef up how much it can carry. The iPad Mini is yet to be released, but already is capturing massive pre-order numbers despite stiff competition from new and existing Android tablets, in the form of the Google Nexus 7, Kindle Fire 7 and Barnes & Noble Nook HD. Despite launching with a lower resolution, less pixel-dense display and a much higher price point than these Android tablets ($329 vs $199) the iPad Mini is expected to sell massively as all Apple products do.
The Tech21 Impact Snap with Cover is probably one of the most protective iPad Mini cases that you can pick up. The secret is the case's use of the advanced D30 material, which is as soft as putty in the hand but becomes super rigid when it is exposed to an impact. It makes for quite a good demo – their PR ships out some of the material and a hammer so you can try if for yourself – and it seems to make a good difference in the real world too. The Impact Snap makes for an incredibly resistant case that even includes a cover for screen protection and stand duties. All in all, a good option if you're looking to ensure your iPad Mini stays in good condition.

Access Media and Documents-If you need to have access to a library of photos

Access Media and Documents-If you need to have access to a library of photos or all of your documents, there are a couple of excellent options. The GoFlex Satellite portable hard drive can be loaded with the media and documents you need from your computer. An iPad or other device connects to the Satellite wirelessly using the GoFlex Media app and can download files or stream movies directly from the 500 GB hard drive. Another option is D-Link's Shareport Go. This device creates a network that you connect to from your iPad. When a flash drive is attached to the Shareport Go, you can view photos and movies, listen to music, download files as well as upload photos. While you can backup RAW files, you can't play them back from the flash attached to the Shareport Go. memory option - put your files on a portable hard drive or flash stick that can wirelesssly be accessed by your tablet.
Cloud Options -Another option is to use the iCloud for saving documents that you need or that you are still finishing. DropBox and other cloud services, as well as online photo storage lockers can be good to backup photos when you are on the road. Note that when you upload large photo files, that data is counted toward a limited cellular data plan. Be sure to upload large files when connected to WiFi at a hotel, or WiFi Hotspot (cafe or other public location).
Printing Options - If you absolutely need to print when you are traveling, I suggest emailing the document you need to an online email account (iCloud email, hotmail, gmail). Many hotels or Kinko's stores have a computer to use where you can access online email and print out the necessary document. When You Want a Big Screen-Sometimes you want a big screen to view files, photos, or videos. If you have an iPad 4, there is a lightning to HDMI adapter available. Connect the adapter to an HDMI cable and connect to a TV (often you can connect using an HDMI to a TV in hotel rooms) to display your iPad on the TV.If your business requires special apps, your company's IT department can probably steer you toward what you will need.
Speaking of exercise and outdoors, you might want to grab an arm band like this Sanwa Supply Sport Case. It acts like a wallet around your bicep, so your phone doesn't have to bounce around in your pocket. It has an extra zipper pouch, which is great for storing your keys and ID.One of the great things about having the same style Galaxy S III on every carrier is the number of accessories that are available for it. My favorite case has been the Samsung Flip Cover, which comes in a half-dozen colors. The back replaces your regular battery cover and it helps keep the cover in place. This is a great way to customize the outside of your device and protect the screen.

The ladies-only laptop that you can 'open without chipping your manicure'

Fujitsu has launched a new laptop, designed solely for women. The brand's new Floral Kiss model was made by women, for women - its design concept of 'bringing elegance to PCs' developed primarily under the direction of Fujitsu's female employees.According to the press release, the small size and design of the model, as well as its accessories, mouse, and 'even its applications,' are ladylike, giving users inbuilt features like daily horoscopes, scrap-booking software and vents with a floral motif. The laptop comes in three colours, Elegant White, Feminine Pink and Luxury Brown. The press released adds: 'The top casing has been constructed with an elegant and refined gradation with gold trim, and it features a flip latch that can easily open the display - even by users with long fingernails.'
Jezebel's Jenna Sauers, who labelled the new product insulting, wrote: 'This monstrosity would be put to better use improving the user experience of all Fujitsu's existing female customers.'If it's really such a problem for your female users to open and shut your laptops without chipping their manicures, Fujitsu, maybe the latch needs a redesign?'The power button is adorned with pearl detailing, while the power status light and Caps Lock key are decorated with 'diamond-cut stone'.A gold ring also frames each key on the transparent keyboard, an aim to 'highlight its elegant style'.Fujitsu will also offer a model designed in collaboration with Japanese jewellery brand agete, featuring a tan keyboard with a cursive key font type, as well as an antique-style pattern on the keyboard's palm-rest areas. The new women-only product will be available from November 2nd, however a price has yet to be set.
This isn't the first gender-specified technology product to enter the market however. In May 2011, Nokia announced a bright pink N8 touch screen phone complete with an ELLE fashion app and a Little Pink Diva Theme for adding colour into menus, as well as a Pink Neon Clock.Dell also received backlash in 2009 for launching Della, a website for women that gave tips on how to find recipes and count calories. This was also the case for Bic, after the company launched a set of pink and purple pens targeted at female consumers. The product's description explained that the pens have a 'sleek pen silhouette and jeweled accents [to] add style.'Amazon shoppers who came across the female-specific pens during the back to school period earlier this year took to the reviews section to voice their unimpressed opinions. One user wrote: 'It is strange/sort of sexist that they felt the need to put "for her" on the product, since, like, it's a-pen, are boys really not allowed to use pretty pens?'

This power supply did get the Raspberry Pi LED's to light up. And it did work for a bit. But after everything was connected, my Laptop accessories suppliers repeated letters (such as "EEEEEEEEEEEE" ) even though I touched the "E" key once. Other keys wouldn't work at all. At first I suspected a bad keyboard, but after searching for "repeating keys" in the help forum and reading 45 results and the wiki, I learned the keyboard problem was likely due to the power supply. According to the wiki "common symptoms of an inadequate power supply are unreliable ethernet or keyboard operation … and SD card errors at startup." In order to tell if my power supply was inadequate, the wiki suggested I get out my multimeter and read the voltage across two test points on the circuit board. I don't remember having to do that on any of my other computers.

Essential accessories: Clutter busters and travel-bag basics

Our increasingly wireless lives are still dependent on physical connections. And that means cables—lots of cables. As the editor who does most of Macworld's accessory coverage, my office is overrun with cables, connectors, and chargers. Few warrant a full review or an article of their own, but that doesn't mean they should go unnoticed. Whether you're looking for worthy candidates for your travel bag or you just want to clean up your desk, here are some of the best accessories I've come across recently for connecting, charging, and more. Short cables are lightweight, take up less space in a bag, and are less likely to tangle. Thankfully, it's no longer necessary to hunt down short versions of essential cables on your own, as a number of companies sell handy kits.
I previously covered Griffin Technology's $25 USB Mini Cable Kit, which offers three short (3.5-inch) USB cables in one package. Incase's $25 USB Mini Cable Kit contains 4-inch versions—the length includes the connectors—of the same three cables: USB-to-30-pin (dock connector) for Cheap Apple Accessories and pre-2012 iPhones and iPods; USB-to-Micro-USB; and USB-to-Mini-USB. The actual cable sections are thinner than those of Griffin's, making Incase's cables more flexible and even lighter. The kit also comes with a convenient nylon carrying pouch. You can choose either the standard kit, which consists of black, white, and gray cables (for 30-pin, Micro-USB, and Mini-USB, respectively), or the brighter fluorescent kit with easy-to-spot green, blue, and orange versions.
Another alternative is to choose one of Aviiq's assorted $30 cable kits, which each include a pair of the company's Ready iPhone Accessories manufacturers. Each Ready Clip cable is roughly 5.5 inches long, with a wide, flat body and a built-in clip for attaching the cable to a pocket or pouch in your bag. The Ready Clips are a bit bulkier and considerably stiffer than even the Griffin offerings, but they also feel sturdier, and the built-in clip is handy. Aviiq sells six different two-cable kits, each with a different combination of USB-to-30-pin (dock connector), USB-to-Micro-USB, and USB-to-Mini-USB cables. Yet another interesting option that I haven't yet had a chance to test is Aviiq's new $30 Quick Change Universal Dock Adapter. This model is similar in size and design to the Ready Clip cables, but it combines all three connectors in a single cable with a standard USB plug on one end and 30-pin, Micro-USB, and Mini-USB plugs at the other. You just rotate the end of the cable to expose the desired connector.

iPhone 5 review: Are Apple accessories too expensive?

Apple's pricey iPhone chargers have traditionally been the target of a thriving black market, with knockoff versions of the easy-to-copy cables available online for mere pennies. That could stop with the iPhone 5, which includes a new connector that's much, much harder to fake. When Apple announced and released the iPhone 5 last month, it ditched the so-called 30-pin connector it used for almost a decade for a smaller, 8-prong setup dubbed "Lightning." The smaller size wasn't the only change. The operator of Double Helix Cables, an online cable shop, tore apart the Lightning connector just after the iPhone 5's release -- and discovered a chip that wasn't included in the 30-pin version. His findings, which were first published on the blog AppleInsider, revealed that the intricate architecture of the new cables makes them difficult to rip off. That's in stark contrast to the simple and often-copied 30-pin connector.
A source with knowledge of Apple's manufacturing confirmed that the Lightning connector does have an authentication chip, and the 30-pin does not.The Double Helix Cables owner (who asked that his name not be used) told CNNMoney that the new chip sits in the path of the Lightning's power wire -- making the setup "much more complex" than that of the 30-pin connector."Chinese manufacturers are currently working to clone this new connector -- but they cannot do it with the same ease and low cost as before, I don't think," he said.Apple runs a "Made for iPhone" licensing program (better known as "MFi") for third parties that want to make legitimate accessories, and many manufacturers work with Apple to certify their products. Still, cheap knockoffs are prevalent.
An official version of Apple's old 30-pin to USB connector cable, for example, costs $19 in the Apple Store. On eBay, you can buy similar cables from Asian manufacturers for mere pennies -- free shipping included. (An eBay spokeswoman said the company "has zero tolerance for criminal activity on its platforms; counterfeits and stolen items are illegal and not welcome on any of its sites.")Don't expect those kinds of rock-bottom prices for third-party versions of Apple's Lightning accessories, which range in price from $19 (for a Lightning-to-USB cable) to $39 (for a Lightning-to-30-pin adapter with a cord).Several apparent Lightning knockoffs have already appeared on sites like Amazon and eBay, but they're listed as pre-sale or "currently unavailable" -- meaning they probably don't exist yet. Most sellers advertising cut-price Lightning accessories use generic names, don't have websites, and don't make their contact information available. CNNMoney's attempt to reach iTronz, a seller with Amazon listings, went unanswered.

Motorola confirms death of Webtop, laptop accessories

Motorola Mobility's Webtop concept, which enabled its phones to act as the brains of a laptop or television entertainment hub, has quietly been killed off, the company confirmed to CNET today.Webtop was software that allowed a Motorola smartphone, such as the Atrix 4G for AT&T, to be docked into a special laptop accessory and run with some computer functionality such as the browser. When it was unveiled, many had called it the future of mobile computing.Unfortunately, the execution wasn't so smooth and sales were disappointing. Motorola, a unit of Google, said today that adoption wasn't strong enough to justify devoting more resources to the Waterproof cases manufacturers. Webtop will no longer appear on phones, starting with the Photon Q, Droid Razr M, Droid Razr HD, and Droid Razr Maxx HD. In addition, Motorola said that Webtop would increasingly be redundant as the Android operating system began to include more desktoplike features.
Phonenews.com had last month reported that Motorola was killing off Webtop at Google's behest, citing unnamed sources. The laptop dock was a key standout feature when Motorola unveiled its flagship Atrix 4G smartphone at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2011. It helped the company differentiate its products from the sea of other Android phones that debuted at the show. The idea was a critical hit, and some, including CNET's Jason Hiner, believed it was a potential weapon Android could use to bridge the gap between the PC and mobile worlds. When it was about to launch, Motorola and AT&T executives talked about the potential the device had to run in the office, and replace the need for a laptop for road warriors.
But its initial momentum was halted when AT&T and Motorola priced the phone and laptop dock for $500, an eyebrow-raising price tag that had many pausing and reconsidering the potential of such a device. While later devices continued to run with Webtop and their own professional Apple accessories manufacturers dock accessory, the excitement had largely disappeared. In addition, the early version was slow and didn't offer the greatest experience, though Motorola would later improve the software. Prior to the takeover, Webtop was one of former CEO Sanjay Jha's favorite projects to talk about.Motorola, now under CEO Dennis Woodside, instead will focus on a few core principles, including better battery life, a focus on LTE, and ensuring the latest updates to Android with its newer smartphones. The company has been aggressively cutting costs, and Webtop is just the latest casualty.

Can accessory makers improve Windows 8 on desktops and laptops?

In a month's time, Microsoft will release Windows 8 to the world as part of a midnight launch alongside its new Surface tablet on October 25th. Although the majority of Windows PCs currently in use across the world are desktop and laptop ones, Microsoft has optimized its latest operating system for use on touch-based hardware. The move is unusual for Microsoft, and marks a step in what it believes will be a tablet and hybrid laptop future.
The new interface, with a separate application ecosystem from the traditional desktop, includes the same Live Tiles first introduced in Windows Phone, and a "Metro" style design that is primarily focused on the use of typography and content. It's certainly a bold move away from the traditional user interface of Windows, and a risky one that has a lot of potential to alienate Windows users and developers. A number of existing Windows 8 users expressed concern at the use of the new interface on mouse- and keyboard-driven machines during the testing phase, and Microsoft responded in kind with some significant improvements in the Consumer Preview and Release Preview editions. However, there's still a feeling that the new interface is clunky and confusing for desktop and laptop machines where a touch screen isn't present, but Microsoft might have the answer.
After introducing some Windows 8 gestures for touchpad component vendors, Microsoft is extending this work to its own range of mice and ones from third parties. Sources familiar with Logitech's own testing have revealed to The Verge that the company is testing a new touch mouse designed specifically for Windows 8. The mouse includes gesture support to allow users to swipe in from the right edge to reveal the charms or swipe in from the left edge to switch to the last opened app. Logitech is also testing additional gestures with a view to improving the Windows 8 experience on mice and keyboards. The new gestures — some of which may appear in existing products with updated software — will help prevent users having to struggle to find the hot corners introduced in Windows 8, allowing them to be operated with swipes and taps on a mouse.
And Microsoft is doing the same. The software giant revealed earlier this year that it's planning to support additional functionality in Windows 8 for its existing Touch Mouse. The new support will include a one finger swipe to scroll up and down and two finger swipes to manage apps and display the Windows 8 charms, a sidebar for settings, device management, sharing, and search. This support is identical to what Logitech is testing, and appears to be a way to standardize touch-based mice. Microsoft has also recently introduced a Wedge Mouse and mobile keyboard, lacking any additional gesture support, but the company may be planning to introduce this with the same update designed for the Touch Mouse.

The tablet saw similar results on the AN3DBench graphics test

As one would expect from a business tablet, Fujitsu added a few extra security features to the standard Android suite (which includes facial recognition, pattern, password and PIN). The first is an option to encrypt the tablet. Activating this feature will encrypt all accounts, settings, downloaded apps, media and other files. Decrypting the M532 requires a numeric PIN or password that must be entered each time the device is powered on, and the device cannot be unencrypted without performing a factory reset.Additionally, the CTMobile app from Computrace can be used to set up a remote administrator for the M532, who can erase all of the tablet's data without warning, change the screen-lock password, control the length and the characters allowed in passwords, or lock the screen. This feature should prove especially useful for businesses worried about the theft of devices containing sensitive data. Computrace costs $13.95 for the Basic Edition, $24.99 for the Standard Edition and $32.99 for the Premium Edition.
Powered by a 1.4-GHz quad core Nvidia Tegra 3T30S processor and 1GB of RAM, the Stylistic M532 offers middle-of-the-road benchmark scores. On the CPU portion of the Benchmark app, the M532 scored 3,743, almost 100 points higher than the tablet average but more than 200 points below the Galaxy Note 10.1 (1.4-GHz quad core Exynos processor and 2GB of RAM) and far behind the score of 5,220 turned in by the Transformer Pad Infinity (1.6-GHz quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 T33 processor and 1GB of RAM).
The tablet saw similar results on the AN3DBench graphics test. Its score of 7,778 exceeded the category average (7,294) but failed to best either the Galaxy Note 10.1 (7,937) or the Transformer Pad Infinity (7,937).Nevertheless, real-world performance impressed. We launched up "Eternal Warriors 2" and began hacking away at hordes of zombies and demons without any hiccups or slowdowns. The tablet handled less demanding tasks with similar aplomb. When switching from landscape to portrait mode, the accelerometer oriented the screen smoothly.Although vibrant, photos taken both indoors and outdoors on the M532's 8-megapixel rear-facing camera exhibited a noticeable amount of pixelation; in a picture taken of the New York City skyline, edges of buildings appeared slightly jagged against the blue afternoon sky. Video shot in 1080p, however, appeared much crisper, and we could more easily make out fine details in the street below.

Accessories for Apple's New Smartphone, from EarPods, Lightning

Accessories for the iPhone 5 are heavily underway, either by Apple or independent businesses. One of the anticipated accessories are Apple's newest headphones, the EarPods. It took Apple three years to finalize the latest headphones and early reviews are positives, praising the level of sounds, but negative reviews are stemming from the headphones not fitting correctly despite 124 different prototypes and tests with about 600 people. The EarPods have been designed, according to Apple, for deeper and richer bass tones, protection from sweat and water, and control music and video playback.Proporta is following with their motto, "Everything Covered," wth a variety of cases such as a leather case with aluminum lning and have specials offering a free screen protector for some products.
Click here to see what Proporta has to offer. China Macbook Accessories manufacturers can also check out additional screen protectors by Invisibile Shield. To further protect your iPhone, Make Direct is offering hardwood cases, customed for the iPhone 5. With prices ranging between $59 to $109, the wooden cases can be purchased here.An accessory directly from Apple is the Lightning dock connector. It's a mandatory buy since the new iPhone's dock connector no longer is with 30-pins, but only eight. Lightning helps connect a 30-pin connector to the eight at only $29. It might be a small charge but it's something some Apple fans believe should come automatically with the iPhone 5 when purchased.
As the Los Angeles Times reported, Apple commented that Lightning will not be compatible with every single device such as speakers with docks and car chargers. This gives independent businesses an opportunity to create a device that can make the eight-pin connector compatible to such devices. The iPhone 5's official release date is Sept. 21 for the US, UK, and Canada (which provides free EarPods), and prices range from $199 for 16GB. $299 for 32GB, $399 for 64GB when signing a contract with AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon. It is not everyday that you can find China iPad Accessories manufacturers that can give you the peace of mind that you deserve when you buy an expensive smartphone like the HTC Incredible 4G LTE.We usually find thin, TPU or hard shell cases that never protect the way we need. Resulting in an accident that causes many headaches and will cost a lot of money to fix or replace. The Trident Perseus Case for the HTC Incredible 4G LTE represents the Trident brand name very well with its level of quality. Available in a rainbow of colors the Trident Tough Case for the HTC Incredible 4G LTE is a thick rubber shell that covers the entire shell of your smartphone and even over the top and around the edge of the display.

I will never buy another laptop

That is the conclusion I reached after several weeks living la vida post-PC. With nothing but my trusty Acer Iconia Tab to work on while waiting for my house sale to close in Florida (see previous post about not needing a smartphone), I've managed to remain productive and connected without touching so much as a byte of "wintel" technology.Well, maybe a few bytes. There have been the occasional detors off the Android wagon -- for example, when I needed to quickly print, sign and re-scan some legal documents and hijacked my daughter's Dell Inspiron for a few minutes (it was like pulling teeth -- she's quite possessive of her toys). However, for the most part I accomplished everything I needed to from the comfort of my Ice Cream Sandwich-based tablet. And the secret of my success had as much to do with the accessories that I surrounded the tablet with as with the device itself.
For example, since I do a lot of writing (duh!), an external keyboard was a must. Thankfully, my Logitech Bluetooth Keyboard for Android 3.0+ was up to the task. With an excellent, island-style layout and decent key travel, the Logitech gives this seasoned touch-typist the tactile feedback he needs to achieve his accustomed high words-per-minute efficiency. A flick of the keyboard's power switch and I transition from haphazard haptic virtual to perfectly palatable physical in a matter of seconds. The next weapon in my arsenal is a Logitech M510 wireless mouse. Note that this is not a Bluetooth device, but rather a traditional wireless mouse with a small, nearly flush USB-dongle. One of the advantages to having a tablet with a full-sized USB port is that I can attach a variety of standard PC peripherals directly to the device. In this case, it's the mouse dongle. However, it could just as easily have been an external hard disk or USB key. I can even hang a small USB hub off of the port should I need to use more than one device at the same time.
Again, the tablet-to-PC-replacement transition is nearly instantaneous. One second I'm cradling my tablet while finger-surfing the web. Then a quick prop of the device on its case/stand, coupled with popping in the mouse dongle and flipping the keyboard switch, and I have the equivalent of a fully-functional (from an input and navigation standpoint) desktop. I can type and scroll and generally leverage all of that hard won muscle memory from years of working with Windows. And while not every PC keyboard shortcut or mouse gesture is carried over -- this is, after all, Android we're talking about -- enough of the basic editing functions are present to make using something like QuickOffice HD (my Microsoft Office alternative of choice) quite pleasurable.

What is emerging is a spectrum of tablet form factors that range from keyboard-first tablets—that is, hybrid laptops—to touch-first tablets that offer keyboards as an accessory. Within this context, yes, hybrid laptops will threaten the market share of traditional laptops."

KT Spider Laptop aims to turn your Android handset into a netbook

Korea Telecom (KT) has revealed its plans for the Spider Laptop, an accessory for Android devices that aims to do what Motorola's Laptop Dock has consistently failed to achieve. At first glance the device may look like an ordinary laptop, but in actual fact it doesn't have much in the way of conventional computing hardware inside – there's no processor, memory or operating system, for instance. The idea is that your Android smartphone does all the thinking while the laptop dock is merely a new way of interacting with said device through its keyboard, touchpad and larger screen. We're not sure if the display is a touchscreen or a regular one at this point.
It's not a new concept, we've seen similar stuff with Asus' Padfone and Motorola's Atrix dock before, but to be fair it's not as if this is new territory for KT either as last year we saw the company's plans for the KT Spider device, a phone, tablet, laptop and gamepad all-in-one.This time things are a little different, however, as it's intended to be compatible with multiple Android smartphones rather than one specific model.KT has equipped the Spider Laptop with some specially made software and has patented its own MHL cable technology to link the device to your phone.
At present we've seen a press shot of the Spider Laptop connected to a Samsung Galaxy S3, but according to reports the company intends to expand compatibility with other makes and models. It'll also feature a few extra ports for things like USB mice and other accessories and will be powered by an 8000mAh battery pack. There's no word on availability plans either inside or outside of South Korea at this point, but the device was unveiled at IFA 2012 in Berlin and KT has said it intends to introduce a model with a budget price point to stay competitive. It also has plans to pen deals with phone manufacturers which could see a variety of designs introduced across a range of regions and price points.
By comparing prices they will be able to make the best choice according to their budget, whenever they need to purchase electronics, computers, laptops, shoes, clothes, etc.Specially offered sections such as ideas to create your dream entertainment nooks with electronics deals, as well as tips on how to create your dream patio with patio furniture deals are developed with the aid of design specialists and professionals who offer the state of the art in design and products together with deals for rewarding results.

HP, Samsung Face Identity Crisis With Tablet-Laptop Hybrids

At a hotel in New York City earlier this week, HP showed off the HP Envy x2…notebook? Er, tablet. Sorry, no, it's the HP Envy x2 notebook-tablet.The device is part of a growing trend of products that OEMs are tagging "hybrid PCs," which attempt to combine tablets and laptops. Essentially these devices are the modern-day equivalent of the "all-in-one PC," the arbitrary branding manufacturers used for all-purpose devices for gaming, media, and productivity. (See: every PC.) Not wanting to lose out on either market, device makers have decided to have their cake and eat it too by attacking tablets and laptops at the same time, a strategy that has led to an identity crisis. "It's called the x2, like times two, because it's two designs," says Cleaning Kit suppliers, director of product management at HP. "It's not just a tablet; it's not just a PC."
The Envy x2 is a sleek 11.6-inch tablet with an aluminum finish. The tablet is super thin at 8.5 mm ("slimmer than an iPad," boasts Conrad) and also super lightweight. That is, without the bulky keyboard HP has glued to the Envy's bottom. The Envy x2 would be gorgeous on its own--by far the most compelling tablet we've seen thus far from HP--yet the company sees benefit to adding a laptop-like keyboard to the device--to arbitrarily make it match a laptop's size and solidity. "Because it's a notebook that can be a tablet, we wanted to make sure it was believable as a notebook in the way it looks and feels," Conrad says. "We'll only sell it like this; we won't sell it in two pieces. We can't just have a clip-on keyboard."
HP is performing marketing acrobatics to make sure consumers don't view the Envy x2 as a tablet with an "attachable keyboard," which it is: The hard drive and other guts of the PC are in the tablet; the keyboard simply contains some extra ports and battery life. But HP is intent on calling it a "detachable screen that becomes a full tablet when separated from the keyboard." Again, this distinction is arbitrary: According to HP, it's not an "attachable keyboard" simply because the keyboard feels more laptop-like than the accessories we're used to attaching to iPads?HP isn't the only device maker facing this identity crisis. This week, Samsung also showed off its Slate PCs, tablet-laptops that can pop off a keyboard console to become a full-fledged tablet. Dell unveiled its XPS Duo hybrid. Asus has touted its Padfone as a (circus-like) "3-in-1 device," wherein the smartphone can become a tablet, and China Cleaning Kit manufacturers can become a laptop, and the Stylus pen can become a phone. (Seriously.) And Microsoft has received much press for its Surface tablet, which features a built-in kickstand and attachable cover that doubles as a keyboard. (If the Surface works as Microsoft says, it will be the most creative solution to the problem we've seen yet.)
